A scientific study conducted with over 500 volunteers has shown that eating sugar makes us look older than we really are. It seems to be demonstrated that sugar ages the skin (and is also fattening).
A team from Leiden University (Netherlands) selected 569 healthy volunteers and divided them into three groups according to their blood glucose levels after meals. Sixty independent assessors studied photos of the volunteers and tried to figure out their age. The results demonstrate statistically that those with high levels of blood sugar looked older than those with lower levels.
